The UK has a great history of successful UK AI startups. Faculty is an excellent example of a UK startup running with its vision and succeeding on a global scale.
We want to ensure that this ecosystem continues to thrive and recently announced a comprehensive package of support. This includes the Advance Market Commitments in which Government will act as a first customer for promising UK start-ups who are building high-quality AI hardware products. The commitment is backed by up to £100 million of government support to give British startups the opportunity for a competitive edge and to win customers in a multibillion-dollar global market.

No data relating to patients’ DNA is included in the datasets processed in the NHS Federated Data Platform provided by a consortium led by Palantir. Faculty had no access to patient DNA data as part of any contract with the Department of Health and Social Care or NHS England.

The company has been awarded a call-off contract for the provision of data science services, more specifically helping the Department to analyse data in real time allowing it to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on local communities and respond to emerging issues at pace. In line with the legal obligations under the Framework Agreement, Faculty must stop using any data they have been granted access to as part of this contract when the contract expires.

The DPIA would identify the requirement for any data processing or data sharing agreement, and they would be put in place accordingly.

The approval of the contract awarded to Faculty was completed in line with the Departmentâs scheme of Delegated Authority.
The contract was awarded following a robust selection process through the Crown Commercial Serviceâs G-Cloud Digital Marketplace in line with its published processes, further details of which can be found (attached) at www.gov.uk/guidance/g-cloud-buyers-guide.
Facultyâs G-Cloud service offered the best fit with the Departmentâs identified needs. Facultyâs pricing of this service offer was reviewed against alternative suppliersâ prices and was found to be comparable.
