Mr. Brake: To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his answer of 9 June 1998,
Official Report, columns 515-16, concerning London Underground, if the contracts drawn up with Price Waterhouse and Freshfields to
provide, respectively, financial and legal advice are fixed price contracts; and what the value or estimated value is of these
contracts. [46131]
Ms Glenda Jackson: The contracts which have been drawn up with Freshfields and Price Waterhouse to provide advice jointly to the
Government and London Transport on implementing a Public/Private Partnership for London Underground are not fixed price contracts.
For reasons of commercial confidentiality, it is not possible to give a figure for the estimated value of the contracts. We will, of
course, report aggregate figures for the total cost of advice on implementing the Public/Private Partnership in due course.
