To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what steps his Department takes to ensure that information in official leaflets on (a) access to and (b) guidance on benefit entitlements is accurate.
To ensure information is accurate, all new and amended leaflets are subject to a quality assurance process where content is checked and approved by subject matter experts before publication.
In addition, the department undertakes an annual uprating review of all leaflets that are impacted by rate changes.

Our 10-Year Health Plan will ensure that people with complex needs are supported to be active participants in their own care. As part of this, 95% of people with complex needs or long-term conditions like Parkison’s disease will have an agreed personalised care plan by 2027. Care plans will be a feature of the developing Neighbourhood Health Service, which will provide integrated, accessible, and localised services that will focus on early detection and diagnosis, and comprehensive multidisciplinary care. By being community-based, the centres will reduce barriers to care and ongoing support and will empower patients to manage their condition more effectively.
From 2026, ‘Diagnosis Connect’ will ensure patients are referred directly to trusted charities and support organisations as soon as they are diagnosed. It will ensure that patients are provided with timely, personalised advice, information, and guidance to help them manage their condition, improve their control over it, and navigate the complex support systems they may face. The Department has already had conversations with Parkinson’s UK about its ‘Parkinson’s Connect’ programme and will continue to do so in the context of ‘Diagnosis Connect’.

This error has been corrected in the latest version of the leaflet which accompanies newly issued passports.
While the corrected version of the leaflet was introduced in November 2021, the previous version will continue to be in circulation for a short period until the remaining stock is exhausted.

To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have to introduce legislation to prevent political parties and election candidates from issuing leaflets that pretend to be documents from official sources.
Electoral law already provides that printed election literature by parties and candidates in a regulated election period must include an imprint. The Government will be extending this provision to digital materials, following recent consultations.
More broadly, free speech in a democracy often results in robust and lively debate. Critical comment, however presented, is an important check and balance on proposals by governments and municipal administrations to increase taxes on the people.
When the content and context of political argument is contested, the best remedy is further debate in an independent free press, rather than state vetting and censorship of political comment. We should then trust the people to make their own judgements on the merits of the case at the ballot box.

HMRC provide information about this policy in leaflets which are sent to all claimants in their renewal packs and to those customers finalising their claim in year. Leaflets were last issued in the 2018/19 Tax Credit renewals packs and will again be included in 2019/20 renewal packs from April 2020 onwards.
Information is also available on GOV.UK, while Jobcentre Plus staff can advise on how the policy operates. Claimants were alerted to this policy when it was announced by the Government as part of Summer Budget 2015.
DWP and HMRC also produce annual joint reports with statistics relating to the implementation of the policy. The most recent of these was published on 31 July 2019 and can be found online at:

The process of registering with, and gaining access to, primary medical care services is the same for all patients, whether they are gypsies, travellers, homeless or vulnerable migrants. People do not need to provide proof of address to register with a general practitioner (GP).
The free NHS 111 service can assist anyone who has faced difficulty finding a GP or accessing other services in their local area.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a crime and it is child abuse. The Government is clear that we will not tolerate a practice that can cause extreme and lifelong suffering to women and girls.
The Home Office’s FGM unit is driving a step change in our nationwide out-reach on FGM. The Unit is providing outreach support to local areas and working to raise awareness of resources available to professionals, including training, best practice examples and information on legislation and policy. Resources include an e-learning package, various communication materials such as leaflets and posters highlighting the legislation and health impacts of FGM and an online resource pack for local areas. The FGM communications campaign and materials were developed following consultation with the FGM sector and the need for easy read materials was not raised during this consultation. These materials are not available in Easy Read format but have been drafted to be accessible to those with a basic understanding of English.

NHS England has worked closely with the Royal College of Psychiatrists to promote these leaflets widely to organisations and services that work with families during the perinatal period.

NHS England has issued general guidance to National Health Service organisations on the sale of advertising space to generate additional income. The Home Office produced a leaflet to raise awareness about immigration options for victims of modern slavery in September 2017.

Key stakeholders including Border Force, UK Visas and Immigration, the National Crime Agency, and the Salvation Army have been made aware of the leaflet and encouraged to share copies with victims where appropriate.
Stakeholders will currently print the leaflet from Gov.UK or share a link to the leaflet as needed and as such the Home Office has no central records of how many leaflets have been distributed.

The Charity Commission is the independent regulator and registrar of charities in England and Wales. It is a non-ministerial department and is independent of government and the sector it regulates.
I understand from the Commission that it has received a complaint regarding the Friends of the Earth Trust Limited and is currently engaging with the charity. It is assessing the information provided to determine whether there are any regulatory concerns.
