The Environment Agency does not routinely provide high-resolution height data because it is not needed to understand the flood maps which are available on the Environment Agency's website. The preparation of the maps incorporates the necessary analysis of topographical data.
Where the Environment Agency is asked for information, it will consider each request, checking compliance with relevant legislation and any confidentialities.
If the Environment Agency has contracted work to third parties or is collaborating in a project, it normally supplies height data as part of its contribution.

BS7666 is a set of standards on ““Spatial datasets for geographical referencing””. It provides a method of identifying places. BS8766 ““Names and identifiers of individuals and groups”” provides a method of recording names and identifiers of individuals and groups. They provide for compatibility of information between different producers and users of information based on the standards.Further information can be obtained from the British Standards Institute (David Cowers–020 8996 7419), and for BS7666, the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) at www.agi.org.uk.
