There have been three cases of TB recorded in bison in the UK during the last five years. One case in 2010, one case in 2011, and one case in 2012. (All these cases were recorded in Great Britain).

The Government have undertaken major reforms to limit Britain’s welfare spending, which over successive years ran out of control. Under the last Government, welfare bills had increased by 60% by 2010, costing every household in Britain an extra

£3,000 a year. Last week, the Welfare Benefits Up-rating Bill was passed by this House. It will save £1.9 billion, restoring fairness for taxpayers in the process.

Normally, the internal commercial transport of animals within the UK by road vehicle are not subject to any form of veterinary check.

In relation to exports of animals, exporters bear the costs of veterinary checks for export certification purposes which are undertaken by private Official Veterinarians (OVs).

In terms of any other veterinary checks made in relation to exports of live animals, which are covered by the EU legislation on the protection of animals during transport (Council Regulation (EC) 1/2005) the only costs that can be recovered from the person responsible for the animals is in any situation where a breach of the legislation is identified and the competent authority is required to take action to safeguard the welfare of the animals.

'Warranted power' and 'restricted duty' are not terms which are defined in legislation. Police officers are attested under section 29 of the Police Act 1996 on appointment, and they then have all

the powers of a constable by virtue of section 30. The specific powers are set out in other legislation, notably the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

It is for the chief officer of the police force to decide whether it is appropriate for an officer's duties to be restricted in some way to take account of either a particular physical condition, while an allegation of misconduct is being investigated or where disciplinary proceedings are pending. Being placed on restricted duties may limit the activities an officer undertakes in the course of his job, but does not remove the powers that they have by virtue of being a constable.

Suppliers to London 2012 have been paid the full commercial rate for their goods and services, with over £7.5 billion of Games-related contracts being awarded to UK companies. The responsibility to enforce the current marketing restrictions and protect the rights of Games Sponsors within the UK, transfers from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to the British Olympic Association (BOA) and British Paralympic Association, in January 2013. The BOA is continuing to work with the International Olympic Committee to develop a framework that allows suppliers to promote the work they undertook, balanced with the ability for sponsors to protect their rights of association with the Games. I will continue to monitor this to ensure British businesses can benefit as much as possible from their involvement in the Games.

2011-12 is the last full year for which information is available.

My Department is currently considering the best way to notify claimants of their universal credit payments. Current thinking is that the award notice that a claimant receives following their claim will inform them of which day of the month they will receive subsequent universal credit payments. Details of payments made to them will be available to view through their online account.

Dentists with temporary registration can only practise under the supervision of a GDC registered consultant. Given that the number of temporary registrants is not large and we would normally expect their supervisors to correct any substandard dentistry as part of their supervisory role, we doubt if the costs are disproportionate to the benefits of the arrangements.

The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Meriden (Mrs Spelman), has consulted extensively with civil society in the run up to Rio+20, including groups specifically focused on children and youth. This has been an essential part of informing the Government's negotiating position at Rio+20.

The Secretary of State recently attended an event organised by UNICEF which focused on children and young people's ambitions for Rio+20, and was attended by the British Youth Council, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, and other young people's organisations. This manner of engagement has continued at the Rio+20 Conference, where the Secretary of State has again met with representatives from these groups.
