Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Glenda Jackson (Labour), on Tuesday, 7 March 1995, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 112 members in total.
WOMEN'S RIGHTS
That this House supports the principle of the universal right of all women to equality, security, liberty, integrity and dignity; notes that these rights apply at all times in all situations and contexts, irrespective of particular cultures, values or traditions or social and political conditions; further notes that without practically enforceable guarantees from the world's governments to respect and protect women's social, economic, cultural, political and civil rights, the themes of the United Nations World Conference on Women - women's rights to peace, equality and development - are unattainable; and urges the United Kingdom Government to commit itself to promoting and implementing these principles abroad and at home.
