Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Harry Barnes (Labour), on Friday, 20 January 1995, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 63 members in total.
THOUSANDTH DAY OF THE SIEGE OF SARAJEVO
That this House welcomes the decision of European Dialogue and the Sarajevo Cosmopolitan Recovery Association to organise a literary meeting in London on 23rd January devoted to the 1,000th day of the siege of Sarajevo; notes that this event, which is entitled Sarajevo 1000-Scheherazade 2001, will bring together authors and others from Bosnia-Herzegovina; believes that such events can help to ensure that the tragic suffering of the people of Sarajevo, and of the whole of the former Yugoslavia, is not forgotten by the Government or public opinion; and further believes that such events highlight continuing efforts to rebuild a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural future for Serbs, Muslims and Croats.
