Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Tony Worthington (Labour), on Wednesday, 16 November 1994, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 208 members in total.
COMPENSATION RECOVERY UNIT OF THE DSS
That this House is appalled by the work of the Compensation Recovery Unit of the Department of Social Security; notes that after years of struggle against negligent employers or those who have caused serious injury, sufferers from diseases like asbestosis have to pay tens of thousands of pounds to the Department of Social Security, which will have clawed back ??100 million in this financial year; and calls for the end of the Compensation Recovery Unit which robs the victims of money they deserve in compensation for their suffering.
