Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Colin Pickthall (Labour), on Wednesday, 10 July 1996, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 63 members in total.
CONDUCT OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR ENVIRONMENT
That this House deplores the fact that the Secretary of State for the Environment, in the three-hour debate on water metering on 9th July 1996, spoke for over one hour; regards this abuse as an insult to honourable Members waiting to speak in the debate; notes that much of the speech was repetitive; and requests ministers to reaffirm the spirit of the Jopling agreements that front benchers should endeavour to keep their contributions to approximately 30 minutes.
