Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Andrew Dismore (Labour), on Monday, 13 July 1998, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 86 members in total.

LUROT BRAND HOUSE SALES

That this House condemns Lurot Brand House Sales's action in placing a job advertisement in the Sunday Times on 12th July 1998 seeking a senior negotiator who is "likely to be someone we already know in the profession, public school educated"; believes the advertisement to be discriminatory against women, ethnic minorities and the majority of the population who have not had the dubious benefit of private education, and a crude attempt further to perpetuate class division in society; and calls on the Government to consider taking such measures as are necessary to ensure such advertisements cannot be placed in national newspapers or elsewhere in the future.
