Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Nicholas Winterton (Conservative), on Tuesday, 17 March 1998, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 38 members in total.
PROGRESSIVE BEER DUTY
That this House urges the Government to establish a progressive beer duty for the smallest brewing companies to encourage new entrants in the market, help negate predatory pricing by larger breweries and encourage competition and to stimulate the developments of new products in both brands and styles; and supports the Society of Independent Brewers in their formal request to the Government for a progressive beer duty.
