Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Frank Doran (Labour), on Monday, 28 June 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 11 members in total.
WASTE WATER TREATMENT IN ABERDEEN
That this House congratulates Labour-controlled Aberdeen City Council for its recognition of the importance of the fish processing industry to the economy of the city and the North East of Scotland and the serious impact that the proposed increases in water charges brought about by the implementation of the European Waste Water Directive would have on the industry; and further recognises that the Council's imaginative initiative in partnership with the industry in bringing forward a scheme to develop waste water treatment facilities for the industry is the first of its kind in the UK and will assist the fish processing industry in the city to meet the requirements of the Directive but at an affordable cost.
