Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Gerald Howarth (Conservative), on Friday, 19 March 1999, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 25 members in total.
CHURCH ATTENDANCE IN ASTON
That this House salutes the action of the Reverend Keith Sinclair in arranging for the church bells of Aston to toll from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday 21st March in protest at the attempt by Sky Televison to re-arrange the timing of the Aston Villa football match to coincide with church services to the inconvenience of churchgoers; and expresses its alarm at the way in which Sky Television seeks to buy up television sports coverage and arrange the timing of fixtures to suit its own commercial purposes.
