DEMOCRATISATION OF PERU
That this House takes note of the crisis of democracy in Peru following recent fraudulent elections and the consequent questionable legitimacy of the Government of President Fujimori; further notes the promise of new elections; to ensure the fairness and transparency of which, urges the Government, together with the international community, to do all that is within its power to support Peruvian civil society's desire for genuine democracy in Peru, and to ensure that the former head of Peruvian National Intelligence Service, Vladimiro Montesinos, is held to account for human rights abuses, bribery and corruption.
