Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Kerry Pollard (Labour), on Friday, 9 June 2000, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.

CHILDREN AND BREAK-UP OF FAMILIES

That this House regrets the harmful effect on children of the break-up of family relationships; suggests that, before the break-up of a family takes place, parents should be encouraged to enter into a contract regarding care of their children; believes that a parent intending to leave his or her children should be obliged to apply in writing for leave to do so, outlining their intentions regarding visiting and financial support; and urges parents to recognise the right of children to continuity of care in their lives.
