That this House pays tribute to the great West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh on his retirement from Test Match cricket; applauds his world record-breaking achievement of taking 519 wickets at an average of 24.45; recalls with pleasure his appearances in Britain and the years he spent playing county cricket with Gloucestershire; notes his promise to be available for the West Indies in an emergency; thanks him for the enjoyment he has brought to cricket lovers all over the world, not least with his own unique style of batting; commends his sportsmanship and gentlemanly manner to sportsmen and women everywhere; wishes him a happy retirement; and hopes to see him gracing cricket grounds many times in the future.
