Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Helen Clark (Labour), on Monday, 26 November 2001, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 34 members in total.
FIRE AT PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL
That this House shares in the dismay and concern caused by the fire at Peterborough Cathedral, which has caused considerable damage so soon after the successful fund-raising that enabled major restoration to the cathedral; welcomes the speedy support of the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group and the local fund-raising campaign spearheaded by the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, but calls on suitable funding sources such as the Heritage Lottery Fund to give urgent consideration to making money available to meet the additional knock-on costs of repairs, caused by the fire which are not met by insurance, to this important spiritual and heritage site.
