Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Gregory Campbell (Democratic Unionist Party), on Tuesday, 3 June 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 14 members in total.

CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR HAYES AND HARLINGTON

That this House condemns the comments attributed to the honourable Member for Hayes and Harlington when he is reported to have referred to the IRA's 'bravery' and said 'It's about time we started honouring those people involved in the armed struggle'; notes the vicious murders of the IRA who for over 30 years have carried out their atrocities against people of many religions and none; and believes that the honourable Member's remarks indicate that he has forgotten the many innocent victims of all terrorist organisations whose bravery is in sharp contrast to the cowardice of those whose violence has scarred Northern Ireland for so long.

CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR HAYES AND HARLINGTON (1320A1)
The Early day motion has received an amendment sponsored by Harry Barnes (primary, Labour) and tabled on Sunday, 8 June 2003. It has been signed by 1 members in total.
leave out from 'House' to end and add 'believes that, whilst the honourable Member for hayes and Harlington has done sterling work in defence of the Fire Service and on many other issues, his analysis in honouring the role of the PIRA is deeply flawed, and that their use of the armed struggle was counter-productive, immoral and has led to the current situation where they have moved into mafia-style activities.'.
