Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Andrew Dismore (Labour), on Wednesday, 19 March 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 53 members in total.

BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB

That this House congratulates Buena Vista Social Club and Mr Ry Cooder on their highly successful musical collaborations which have brought pleasure to millions of people worldwide; is very concerned to hear that this partnership is jeopardised by the United States Government's intention to ban further such work as a result of their unjust trade embargo imposed on Cuba; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to make urgent representations to the United States Government to exempt musical and cultural partnerships and exchanges from its trade ban.
