Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Michael Clapham (Labour), on Monday, 24 March 2003, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 95 members in total.

REGULATION OF TRAIN DRIVERS' HOURS

That this House supports the campaign by the Association of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen for the regulation of the hours of work of train drivers because it is recognised that long hours in control of a train causes tiredness that can impair concentration and contribute to stress-related illnesses such as anxiety and depression; believes that train drivers should be afforded the same protection as other land-based drivers; and calls on the Government to include the regulation of train drivers' hours in its proposed railway safety legislation.
