VIOLENCE AND ABUSE AGAINST SHOPWORKERS
That this House is appalled by the recent increase in incidents of violent attacks and abuse of shopworkers, as reported in the British Retail Consortium's Annual Crime Survey; notes with concern that last year there were over 20,000 reported incidents of physical violence against shopworkers and 28,000 threats of violence; further notes with concern that there is also a considerable number of incidents that go unreported; calls upon Right honourable and honourable Members to support Usdaw's campaign against violence and abuse of shopworkers; and calls on the Government to make retail crime a police key performance indicator and to promote and resource town centre and safer shopping partnerships.
