Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Mike Weir (Scottish National Party), on Monday, 25 October 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 11 members in total.

SAFEWAY LOCAL STORES

That this House with concern the sale of compact Safeway stores by Morrisons to Somerfield; recognises that, although this should guarantee that many local supermarkets in rural towns and villages remain open, residents in towns which only have Safeway and Somerfield stores will now find only one store, as in the cathedral city of Brechin; and further recognises that such a development will leave little or no market for competition.
