Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Bob Spink (Conservative), on Monday, 26 April 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 16 members in total.
CYPRIOT REUNIFICATION REFERENDUM
That this House recognises the overwhelming democratic decision of the Greek Cypriot people to reject the UN plan; regrets that the UN plan did not provide a settlement for the Cyprus problem on a just and acceptable basis; calls for a period of reflection and renegotiation to find a solution that delivers justice for both communities so a plan that is acceptable and sustainable in international law can be put to the communities; and calls on the EU and international community not to take any short-term action that would change the status quo and therefore jeopardise the emergence of a new and acceptable plan.
