Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ed Davey (Liberal Democrat), on Wednesday, 26 January 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 87 members in total.
ANIMAL INSULIN
That this House expresses concern at reports from the Insulin Dependent Diabetes trust that NovoNordisk is threatening to cease production of animal-based insulin products, one of only two current suppliers of such insulin in the UK; acknowledges the reduction of warning symptoms of an impending hypoglycaemic attack experienced by some diabetics who were switched from animal based to synthetic human insulins; notes the importance of providing easy and consistent access to both types of insulin; and calls on the Government to ensure a reliable supply of animal insulin is secured for the foreseeable future.
