Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Doug Naysmith (Labour), on Thursday, 9 December 2004, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 75 members in total.
FUTURE FUNDING OF EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH
That this House notes with concern that the further concentration of research funding will leave only 18 per cent. of university education departments with core research funding; and calls on the Government to investigate further the impact that this drastic reduction of breadth and capacity will have on the quality of initial teacher training, the ability of existing teachers to access continuing professional development and the quality of research-based education policy in future.
