Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Huw Edwards (Labour), on Wednesday, 12 January 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 38 members in total.
TSUNAMI AID VEHICLES AND TOLLS ON THE SEVERN BRIDGES
That this House applauds the efforts of the people of South Wales who have been extremely generous in donating clothing, tinned food, medical supplies, and water to people in Asia who have been affected by the tsunami disaster; expresses concern and disappointment that Severn River Crossing PLC cannot waive the ??14.30 for heavy goods vehicles for lorries transporting aid between airports and collection points in South Wales and the south of England; and calls on the Government to extend the exemption under the Severn Bridges Act 1992 to allow aid vehicles to cross the Severn bridges without charge.
