Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Adam Price (Plaid Cymru), on Thursday, 17 March 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 22 members in total.
RENATIONALISATION OF THE RAILWAYS
That this House congratulates the decision of 30 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union to march over 400 miles between Scotland and London to campaign for the renationalisation of the railways; notes that a clear majority in various opinion polls favour a policy of renationalisation; further notes that the current Government is spending up to three times more in subsidy than the sums received by the old British Rail; and believes that public money invested in rail transport should be invested in the network and not pocketed by shareholders.
