DEMOCRACY IN NEPAL

That this House regrets the suspension of democracy in Nepal and urges the King of Nepal to restore democracy immediately; notes with particular concern the restrictions on free, independent and democratic trade unions and the arrest of many of the leaders of the Nepalese trade union movement; welcomes the global day of action to protest against this situation called by the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the World Confederation of Labour; and calls upon the King of Nepal to restore freedom of association and free speech and release forthwith those arrested for their trade union activities.
