ASSASSINATION OF MR RAJIV GANDHI

That this House unreservedly condemns those who perpetrated the wicked, callous and cowardly act of violence which killed Rajiv Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Party and former Prime Minister of India; considers that the Indian people have lost a figure of great importance in the life of their nation, and that the community of nations including Britain have lost a valued friend; reaffirms its faith in Indian democracy; and believes that these acts of terrorism will not be permitted to undermine or subvert the world's largest democracy.
