Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Margaret Ewing (Scottish National Party), on Thursday, 7 March 1991, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 7 members in total.
FREEDOM OF THE BALTIC STATES (NO. 2)
That this House congratulates the people of Latvia and Estonia who, in following the example of Lithuania, have demonstrated a clear, democratic aspiration for self-determination; re-emphasises that the West never recognised `de jure' the kidnapping of these nations' independence under the infamous Stalin-Hitler agreement; and calls on the Soviet Union and western democracies to ensure peaceful negotiations which will lead to the recognition of the Baltic republics as states in their own right.
