Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor David Marshall (Labour), on Monday, 19 December 2005, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 26 members in total.
FLIGHT PRICE INCREASES FOR FOOTBALL FANS
That this House notes that yet again following the draw for major European football competitions football fans throughout the UK are being ripped-off by Easyjet and Ryanair; further notes that supporters of Glasgow Rangers who wish to see the game against Villarreal in Spain are facing extortionate increases in fares in as much as Ryanair fares from Prestwick to Barcelona were increased from ??8 to ??119.99, and Easyjet fares from Stansted to Valencia were increased from ??19.99 to ??139.99 and from Prestwick to Stansted from ??12.99 to ??39.99, immediately the draw was announced; and calls for action to be taken to stop such blatant profiteering on such occasions.
