Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Graham Stuart (Conservative), on Tuesday, 7 February 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 19 members in total.
LECONFIELD DEFENCE SCHOOL OF TRANSPORT
That this House notes that Leconfield's Defence School of Transport is the largest driver training facility in Europe; recognises that it is a centre of excellence and is an important local employer in Beverley and Holderness; further notes that British troops currently deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere deserve the best possible training before they go into the field; further notes concern that the Government's Defence Training Rationalisation programme may prioritise financial savings ahead of the quality of training provided to UK forces and that this will affect the Leconfield Defence School; and urges the Government to allow an in-house bid for the defence training contract at Leconfield.
