Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Harry Cohen (Labour), on Monday, 27 February 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 12 members in total.
COMMENTS OF FORMER UN HEAD OF HUMAN RIGHTS MISSION ON IRAQ (No. 1)
That this House expresses concern at the comments of Mr John Pace, until recently the head of the United Nations' human rights office of the UN Assistance Mission to Iraq, that much of the killing is attributed to the agents of the Ministry of the Interior and that this Ministry acts as a rogue element within the government; notes that the Interior Minister, Mr Bayan Jabr, is the former leader of one of the main groups accused of carrying out sectarian killings and that the various paramilitary groups operating under the Ministry's control act as death squads; and considers that this is not a proper outcome of the US and UK's sponsorship of democracy.
