Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Mark Pritchard (Conservative), on Thursday, 6 July 2006, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 23 members in total.

DEFENCE LOGISTICS JOBS

That this House expresses concern over the Ministry of Defence's decision to close Sapphire House in Shropshire, which will lead to the loss of up to 400 Defence Logistics Organisations jobs; believes that the decision, at a time of new deployments by Her Majesty's Armed Forces, could lead to a reduced logistical capability and possibly hinder delivery of vital equipment to the frontline; and calls upon the Government to examine fully the implications of its decision for the workforce, their families and local suppliers and to ensure that all necessary measures are put in place to help those who lose their jobs into re-training and new employment.
