VALENTINE'S DAY AND THE UNEARTH JUSTICE CAMPAIGN

That this House congratulates CAFOD on its Unearth Justice campaign to raise standards in the global gold mining industry; urges mining companies and jewellery retailers to adopt the standards proposed by the campaign; calls on the Government to support the development and implementation of standards for the gold mining industry and lending requirements for international financial institutions which give local communities a voice in investment decisions; and urges all hon. Members to ensure that any jewellery they purchase this Valentine's Day or afterwards is bought from jewellers who source their gold from companies who abide by CAFOD's `golden rules'.
