Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ann Widdecombe (Conservative), on Tuesday, 12 June 2007, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 96 members in total.
HUNTING PROSECUTION
That this House welcomes the successful prosecution of the Quantock Staghounds for illegal hunting; congratulates the League Against Cruel Sports for taking another successful private prosecution; believes that the current total of eleven convictions for illegal hunting shows that the Hunting Act 2004 is an enforceable piece of legislation; recognises that the Hunting Act is stopping hunts from inflicting pain and suffering on animals; and calls on those who oppose this legislation to comply with the law and cease hunting activities.
Amendments
The Early day motion has received 2 amendments.
- 1674A1

- 1674A2
- leave out from `hunting;' to end and add `believes that hunts are striving to operate within the letter and spirit of the law and that this prosecution has again demonstrated the serious flaws, contradictions and unworkability of the Hunting Act 2004; and concludes that the welfare of the animals covered by the Hunting Act would be best served by the early repeal of the Act.`.
