VELCADE
That this House congratulates the Velcade 3, Jacky Pickles, Marie Morton and Janice Wigglesworth, who live in Keighley and District, on the success of their campaign; welcomes the second appraisal consultation document from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) on Velcade, which recommends the use of this treatment for patients with debilitating cancer multiple myeloma, under an innovative money back scheme; congratulates NICE for upholding the appeals against the previous negative guidance and for working with the manufacturer of this treatment to recommend its use in the NHS; and urges NICE to give a positive final appraisal determination to Velcade, thereby giving hope to myeloma patients and their families who are battling against this incurable, but treatable cancer.
