Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Graham Stuart (Conservative), on Tuesday, 24 July 2007, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 21 members in total.
IMPACT OF FLOODING ON FARMING COMMUNITIES
That this House recognises the scale of flooding experienced across the East Riding of Yorkshire, where nearly 72 mm (2.8ins) of rain fell in just 24 hours; notes that hundreds of farmers have been affected, with thousands of acres of land still under water; notes that thousands of pounds worth of cereal, vegetables and pea crops have been destroyed and that some bankruptcies will be inevitable as a result; and calls on the Government to offer assistance, financial or otherwise, to those farmers who have been hit by the flooding.
