Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Huw Edwards (Labour), on Tuesday, 4 February 1992, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 46 members in total.
PUBLIC HOUSE TENANTS IN WALES
That this House deplores the actions of the major brewers who have imposed prohibitively expensive new leases on public house tenants in Wales and served notices-to-quit on tenants unable to comply with new full repair leases; recognises that public houses play an important role in the life of Welsh communities and that many tenants and their families face the prospect of losing both their livelihoods and homes; condemns the unfair system of arbitration in force; and calls on the Secretary of State for Wales to liaise with the major brewers with pubs in Wales and the Office of Fair Trading to enforce a moratorium on the brewers' ruthless action.
