Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Campbell of Pittenweem (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 16 December 1991, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 17 members in total.
PITTENWEEM HARBOUR
That this House notes with concern the continuing failure of the Scottish Office to sanction the necessary improvements to Pittenweem Harbour; recognises that these are necessary so as to allow fishermen in the East Neuk of Fife modern fish-handling facilities and also safe access to the harbour itself; condemns the finance based approach of the Scottish Office which seeks to put a price on safety by requiring a notional financial return on the cost of providing a breakwater; and calls upon the Scottish Office to make an early and favourable decision for the redevelopment of Pittenweem Harbour as a necessary step to maintain a village based fishing industry in Fife.
