PEACE VIGIL GEORGE SQUARE GLASGOW
That this House warmly congratulates Mr Vince Mills and his colleagues for organising the fine, dignified peace vigil which took place in George Square, Glasgow, on 8th December; notes that the theme of this event, in common with others held in Belfast, London and Dublin, was Stop the Killing this Christmas; believes that such peaceful non-sectarian assemblies will help with the demand for an end to paramilitary activities, both in Northern Ireland and elsewhere;and hopes that these vigils will give wide-spread publicity and encouragement to the establishment of a non-sectarian peace movement in all parts of these islands and emphasises that the paramilitary gangs have scant support amongst the citizens of the United Kingdom and Eire.
