Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Hain (Labour), on Monday, 20 January 1992, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 89 members in total.
FUTURE OF MAIL DELIVERIES
That this House condemns proposals from Royal Mail management to abolish the second delivery in towns and to replace door-to-door deliveries in rural areas with American-style 'garden gate' post boxes; and calls upon the Government to abandon its proposals for backdoor privatisation of mail services and to retain a publicly-owned and controlled post office driven by high quality of service targets rather than maximisation of shareholder profits.
