Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Yasmin Qureshi (Labour), on Wednesday, 29 June 2016, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 33 members in total.
PROFESSOR MIKE NICHOLSON AND KIDNEY TRANSPLANTATION RESEARCH
That this House expresses its most sincere congratulations to Professor Mike Nicholson at the University of Cambridge for his pioneering research in kidney transplantation, which has already had a positive impact on the lives of kidney patients in the UK; commends Professor Nicholson for advancing the normothermic (warm) perfusion technique which warms and flushes the donor kidney to restore metabolism and function prior to transplantation; notes that this has allowed for the successful transplantation of kidneys previously declined by all UK transplant centres; and further notes that this work has been made possible by funding from Kidney Research UK and will help even more people live free from the life-limiting effects of kidney disease.
