Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Paul Flynn (Labour), on Wednesday, 21 June 2017, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 13 members in total.
OPPRESSIVE ALIYEV REGIME IN AZERBAIJAN
That this House is appalled that the already dire situation of human right abuses in Azerbaijan has deteriorated further in the last six months; condemns the abduction and imprisonment of a journalist living in Georgia critical of the Azerbaijani Government on 29 May 2017; welcomes the European Parliament resolution that calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to drop charges against and unconditionally release Afgan Mukhtarl and all others jailed for expressing their fundamental rights; and calls on the Government to make representations on behalf of all who have fallen victim in their political imprisonment to the cruel and corrupt Aliyev regime.
