Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Adam Ingram (Labour), on Tuesday, 25 May 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 42 members in total.
DISPOSAL OF NEW TOWN ASSETS
That this House expresses its extreme concern at the way in which the industrial and commercial assets of the Scottish New Towns are being disposed of under direction of the Scottish Office and without regard to the economic well-being of the new towns and the wider economic interest of Scotland; and considers the recent disposal by East Kilbride Development Corporation of the Newston industrial estate to a London-based property development company, Ashtenne Ltd., which within a few days of purchase proceeded to sell-off for profit parts of the estate to another London-based company Audit Glen Ltd., to be against the public interest and the interests of those companies which occupy premises on the estate.
