Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Gregory Campbell (Democratic Unionist Party), on Monday, 12 January 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 4 members in total.
Public sector recruitment in Northern Ireland
That this House notes there has been significant under representation of some communities among those employed in a number of public bodies in Northern Ireland; recognises that, whether in housing or policing, a more representative workforce is preferable given the country's troubled past; and calls upon political figures representing those minority employee groups to actively support recruitment drives, whether in the Northern Ireland Housing Executive or the Police Service, in order to combat intimidation of Roman Catholics by republicans in the case of policing, or generational under-representation of Protestants in the case of the Housing Executive, thus showing that the wider community gives its total support to the country's institutions.
