Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ruth Jones (Labour), on Monday, 2 March 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 27 members in total.
Use of catapults against wildlife
That this House condemns the increasing misuse of catapults against wildlife, domestic animals, private property and persons in both urban and rural settings; commends the work of Naturewatch Foundation and other animal welfare organisations in raising awareness of this issue and in seeking to reduce the number of innocent victims of wildlife crime and human injury linked to catapult misuse; supports the development of proportionate legislative provisions relating to the sale, possession and use of catapults in order to protect persons, animals and property; believes that such measures would provide greater clarity for law enforcement, strengthen animal welfare protections and improve public safety; and calls on the Government to engage with relevant stakeholders and give due consideration to the introduction of such legislation.
