Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Helen Morgan (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 29 June 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 28 members in total.

Protections for UK egg producers

That this House notes with concern the growing pressure on UK egg producers as imports of eggs rise to around 1.6 billion annually, as reported by the British Egg Industry Council, despite many imports failing to meet welfare and food safety standards required by UK producers; acknowledges the important role of egg production in supporting local jobs and farm businesses in North Shropshire; recognises that the UK egg producers have invested significantly to produce eggs to high standards of welfare in compliance with the British Lion Code of Practice; and urges the Government to strengthen transparency, traceability and import controls for egg products to support UK farmers from being undercut by products produced under systems banned in the UK.
