Glasgow Times: 150th anniversary
That this House congratulates the Glasgow Times on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; notes that the newspaper was first published on 5 June 1876 and celebrated its 150th anniversary on 5 June 2026; further notes that it was originally published as the Evening Times before being officially rebranded as the Glasgow Times on 4 December 2019; recognises the newspaper’s distinguished contribution to journalism and public life in Glasgow; commends its long-standing tradition of public interest campaigning on behalf of the people and communities of Glasgow; acknowledges its record of highlighting issues of public concern, supporting charitable causes, celebrating community achievement and giving a voice to those whose concerns might otherwise go unheard; further recognises the important role that trusted local newspapers continue to play in strengthening democracy, promoting accountability and fostering community engagement; and extends its best wishes to the Glasgow Times and to its staff, past and present, as they continue their service to the people of Glasgow.
