CONDUCT OF THE PRIME MINISTER (NO. 3)

That this House contrasts the statement of the Prime Minister, 17th November, Official Report, column 136, that Ministers did not mislead the House with the answer given the honourable Member for Newport West on 5th December 1990, Official Report, column 300, by the Trade and Industry Minister, the Right honourable Member for Hove who said, 'I can give the honourable Gentleman an undertaking that we have one of the strictest systems of controlling the export of defence equipment', in response to the honourable Member's statement that if war broke out in the Gulf British soldiers 'would be bombarded with howitzer and mortar shells manufactured using machinery exported from Britain, spied on by British-made Radar . . . shot at by tanks travelling on British tracks, and attacked by missiles propelled by British fuel, all supplied to Saddam Hussein with the help and guidance of British Ministers.
